Engineering that holds up in the field.
Pacifica Engineering is a multidisciplinary engineering firm based in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. We work with owners, developers, contractors and public agencies to plan, design and build sites and facilities across the state.
Disciplines
- Civil and siteGrading, utilities, access and permitting.
- Water resourcesStormwater, drainage and floodplain analysis.
- StructuralFoundations, framing and equipment support.
- Industrial facilitiesExpansions planned around live operations.
- ConstructionRFIs, submittals and field observation.
- Owner’s engineeringIndependent review on the owner’s behalf.
Most project problems start where one discipline hands off to another.
Each of the situations below leads to redesign, delay or a change order. We avoid them by keeping civil, water, structural and construction engineering under one project lead, who stays involved from the first site visit through final inspection.
A grading plan assumes a pipe size that the stormwater model never checked.
New equipment arrives before anyone has confirmed the slab can carry it.
Drawings pass agency review and then conflict with conditions on site.
How we carry a project from feasibility to closeout
Engineering has the most influence early, before the layout, budget and schedule are set. We stay involved after that so the design intent is carried through construction.

Feasibility
What will this site support?
We review soils, floodplain, utilities, access and the permitting path before you commit to a layout.

- STA 1+00
Design basis
What are we designing to?
Loads, criteria and assumptions are agreed in writing at the start of design.

Design and permitting
Will it pass review and can it be built?
Coordinated drawings that agencies can approve and contractors can price accurately.
DeliverablePermit and construction drawings

Construction
How do we resolve this in the field?
Prompt responses to RFIs, submittals and the conditions crews find on site.
DeliverableRFI responses and field reports

Closeout
Was it built as designed?
Final observations, record drawings and the certifications owners and agencies require.

The work we are built for
Projects where the site, the structure and the schedule depend on one another.
Industrial and advanced manufacturing
Expansions, equipment and utilities phased around operating plants.
Logistics and distribution
Large sites where truck access, drainage and earthwork drive the schedule.
Commercial and mixed use
Sites that need to meet the budget and pass local review.
Public infrastructure
Drainage, utility and facility improvements for towns, counties and agencies.
Sites with heavy utility demand
Projects where water, sewer and power capacity determine what can be built.
Based in Rocky Mount, working across North Carolina
Rocky Mount sits where I-95 meets US 64, about an hour east of Raleigh. From here we serve the manufacturing plants, distribution sites, rail corridors and river towns of eastern North Carolina, and we take on projects statewide when the scope is a good fit.

Practices we hold to on every project
We identify the hard constraints first.
Soils, floodplain, utility capacity and access are reviewed before a layout is fixed.
We document decisions.
Assumptions, criteria and tradeoffs are recorded so the whole team works from the same information.
We design for construction.
Drawings account for sequence, access and tolerances as well as code requirements.
We stay through closeout.
The engineers who designed the work answer the RFIs and observe construction.
Tell us about your site and schedule.
Send us the project location, where things stand and the decision you need to make. We will follow up to discuss scope and next steps.
